I just purchased this in 7/2011 and this new 800mhz antenna rocks! It does what is says and it pulls in the 800mhz trunk freqs. like a champ! What a night and day difference from the stock all-band antenna that came with my PRO-164! I have 2 PRO-164's and I liked it so much that I just ordered another one! It also still works great for listening to the UHF Low and VHF Hi repeater public safety local to you freqs. too! I would highly recommend this antenna if you want to hear 800mhz trunking bands loud and clear!

To avoid the loose BNC connector issue, place the antenna on a towel then use a hair dryer on the "hot" setting to heat up the connection end of the antenna. It'll go on smooth and conform to the scanner antenna BNC connector just fine once it cools down. Leave it on for a few days. The antenna is amazing and I appreciate the other reviewers tipping others off about this issue.

Loosening BNC?

After purchasing this antenna, I noticed a loosening of the BNC housing on my GRE PRS-500. I spoke to the GRE folks and they suggested that the increased torque needed to put this antenna on the radio might have accounted for the loosening This antenna performed as advertised. But, I question whether the BNC is too snug for this radio. It takes more power to twist this puppy on.
Additional comments: I am giving this antenna a second chance after reading reviews about the radio's problem with loosened BNC housing. I will write additional comments as I learn more.
Most recent update: I have used this antenna on two separate GRE PSR 500 radios with the same outcome, a loosened BNC.
After being temepted into the of 2.5 gain, I fell victim to its spell. Yes, it works beautifully; however, beware of this potential problem with this particular radio. I just spent nearly $90 for repair & shipping.
