So far I'm very impressed with the operation of this antenna over the others I have tried on my SDS100 and Whistler TRX-1

5 of 5 Good reception April 27, 2015
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Indianapolis, IN United States
This is a Laird 861 EXE antenna which is comparable to the Radio Shack 800 antenna, which I also have.  Side by side, it is hard to tell which one is the clear winner. It is longer by an inch though.  I live on the west side of Indianapolis and it picks up the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety and Hendricks county well, much better than stock, although honestly, I tend to favor the Laird 806 SMC stubby on my BCD436HP in strong signal areas.  Much shorter and cleaner on the radio and no need for a longer gain antenna which may pull in interference.  I got the Laird 806 EXE SMA and the 806 SMC for my 436 from antenna farm for much less and the shipping is a little more reasonable.

5 of 5 Fantastic Antenna !!! August 1, 2011
Reviewer: Jim Bangert - KB2UNK from Forked River, NJ United States
I just purchased this in 7/2011 and this new 800mhz antenna rocks!  It does what is says and it pulls in the 800mhz trunk freqs. like a champ!  What a night and day difference from the stock all-band antenna that came with my PRO-164!  I have 2 PRO-164's and I liked it so much that I just ordered another one!  It also still works great for listening to the UHF Low and VHF Hi repeater public safety local to you freqs. too!  I would highly recommend this antenna if you want to hear 800mhz trunking bands loud and clear!

5 of 5 Great antenna April 27, 2011
Reviewer: Horry Radio Man from Loris, SC United States
To avoid the loose BNC connector issue, place the antenna on a towel then use a hair dryer on the "hot" setting to heat up the connection end of the antenna. It'll go on smooth and conform to the scanner antenna BNC connector just fine once it cools down. Leave it on for a few days. The antenna is amazing and I appreciate the other reviewers tipping others off about this issue.
