I did my research on utilizing a pre-amplifier with my scanner. Every thing I read kept saying to stay away from them they also amplify the static. Well I can honestly say that for my set up and location this purchase was the best thing. Only set back is that our dispatching frequency bleeds over onto the fire ops frequencies but it isn't to bad. But then again it could be just my scanner. I can now pick all fire ground talk with in the county and also pick up a digital system from another county next to us.
