Basics

The Uniden GPS Receiver works superbly with the Uniden scanners which are GPS-controllable. These are high-quality, ultra-accurate receivers that rapidly access the satellites and transmit position data back to the scanner.

Works with the following Uniden Scanners

Understanding GPS Scanning
Programming based GPS scanning requires that the Systems, Sites and Groups (or Favorites Lists) be programmed with GPS coordinates and ranges. The GPS sends the location to the radio and when the radio determines that you are within the circle drawn based on the location and range it turns on that item. When you leave the circle it turns it off.

If you use your scanner over a wide area a GPS can allow you to automatically turn on and off systems, sites, groups and/or Favorites Lists automatically and without having to punch in a ZIP Code all the time. If you only use the scanner at home or around a small area a GPS wouldn’t help you but if you travel a lot (RV folk, truckers etc.) it can be invaluable.

Base/Mobile Scanner Hook-up
The Uniden DB-9 connector would attach to the back of the base/mobile scanners.

Portable and HomePatrol Scanner Hook-Up
Scanners such as the BCD396XT, BC346XT and the HomePatrol 1 and 2 can be connected using the

The Uniden GPS Receiver is powered by the cigarette lighter adapter supplied with the GPS Receiver.

Connection to Scanner is FRAGILE August 14, 2018
Reviewer: Pat B from Washington, MO United States
The proprietary connection of the GPS to the scanner broke the first time I used it. Couldn't figure out why the cord wouldn't stay connected and upon looking carefully found very thin broken plastic that is supposed to hold the cord in the scanner. This mobile accessory is not robust enough to be used in a mobile environment.

Works but documentation needed June 27, 2018
Reviewer: Patrick Malone from Simi Valley, CA United States
It appears to work but not sure it connects to scanner, but there is no documentation that tells you how to use. It connects asks if I want to use the GPS but does not appear to actually scan base on GPS location, not sure.

Very happy January 6, 2018
Reviewer: Colleen Gilligan from Miller Place, NY United States
My purchase was a gift for my better half who was retiring after 40 years on the job. The selection made it easy to costumize and received within a week. He is very happy with the scanner and the pre programmed counties along with computer program. The GPS is a great feature so you can automatically connect what ever location.

Great Scanner! August 29, 2016
Reviewer: Ronald Perkins from Tucson, AZ United States
This is a fantastic and easy to use scanner.  The Sentinel program is simple and easy to use after you watch a you tube video.  I purchased the optional gps and it works fantastic for long trips (just remember to activate the full scanner list).  The batteries did not work that came with the scanner so have 3 AA's at the ready so you don't have to run to the store like I did!
