4 of 5 WS 1088 Good scanner, but.... February 15, 2016
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from California
I am enjoying my new ws1088, it seems to work as well as my 1080 scanner.  I do have a few issues though.   I find that the instructions that come with the scanners do not tell you all the operating features of the scanner,  all the bells and whistles  I find that the scanner still has an issue with trunk systems that simulcast  also with my particular unit the WS 1088 I have found that the up down left right keypad is a little soft and  it requires you to push very firmly to get a response when I think it should be more light to the touch  I am also amazed that the 1088 and 1080 do not have a lock function on the keypad or pad  itself to prevent accidental  keypresses hopefully the manufacturer can solve this through a CPU update.    To sum up the product it's great for what it does and we are fortunate in the scanner world to have products that can monitor P 25 systems.   Keep up the good work

5 of 5 Worth it! January 31, 2016
Reviewer: Jeffrey Picard from Germantown, WI United States
As my local municipalities made the switch to digital systems I got left behind. I recently sold my older scanners and picked up the Whistler WS1088. I've had it now for several weeks and I think I have finally reached a verdict: I love it!  The learning curve is steep, but with a little bit of effort you can bend the scanner to your needs. I've got it set up so that my home county, and all the counties in which I drive through, are in separate scan lists.  It's an easy matter to switch lists as I travel. The rubber ducky antenna does a surprisingly good job at pulling in signals and the speaker is loud and clear. I do have a few "cons" that are worth mentioning: First, the faceplate is easy to scratch.  Second, battery charging is VERY slow. Third, while the EZscan software is nice, it is a bit glitchy and occasionally locks up on Windows 10. It has a few annoyances that could be made better, such as the ability to only import either trunked or conventional fequencies but NOT both.

5 of 5 Everything I was hoping for in a scanner! January 25, 2016
Reviewer: Brandon Collins from New Palestine, IN United States
With my previous scanners also being made by whistler (just sold as the RS Pro-106 and Pro-197) I felt comfortable and sure I'd be getting a quality product, and I did. This scanner has brought the best of what I was used to with my 106/197 pair, and resolved the main issue I had with those old units, the multi site/simulcast/overload issue with large digital systems. The WS1088 trunks SOOOO much better on AP25, and has much more clarity/follows the voice transmission all the way through!

Can't say anything about Phase II, don't have a system around me to try it on yet.

All in all, great scanner, HIGHLY recommended!
