Basics

Monitoring 700 and 800 MHz trunked digital and analog public safety radio systems can be very challenging when you are either too far from the system and signals are weak or, alternatively, when you have too much signal from multiple simulcast transmitter sites that are transmitting the same signals on the exact same frequencies (or even different nearby frequencies). With this 13db high-gain directional "Yagi" antenna you can aim the antenna in the direction of one transmitter and increase signal strength from that transmitter very significantly. This will pull in many distant stations and it will also focus reception from a single transmitter when you are faced with the interfering effects of a multi-site public safety system. (Note that this antenna will not receive other bands except for the strongest signals so typically your scanner should be dedicated for use on this band.)

For those who are able to mount the antenna outdoors that's usually the best way to go; however, if you are in an apartment or condo or just can't mount an outdoor antenna on your home, with the included simple stand system that we have created you can easily place the antenna on a desk or shelf and aim the antenna in different directions until the signal improves and interference decreases. The stand is made of wood and PVC and will not affect or deflect the signals in any way.

With 15 elements and 13db of gain this antenna most importantly has a 30 degree beamwidth making it perfect for aiming at one transmitter while helping to negate the affects of a transmitter located out of the beam. This TerraWave antenna is designed for transmitting between 824 and 960 MHz but for receive purposes it works well done to 740 MHz. The antenna weighs only 3 lbs. and includes a 12 inch pigtail with an N-connector. Included in the special stand package is an N to BNC adapter and a 6' jumper cable for extra length to bring the signal to your scanner.

The TerraWave directional yagi antenna operates in the 824 - 960 MHz frequency range. his yagi Includes an articulating mount and has a 12 inch pigtail with N-style Jack.

5 of 5 I beat Simulcast! :0) November 12, 2016
Reviewer: Johnnydollar2 from Chicago, IL
A VERY good Antenna. Don't be scared off by Freq-range limits.  You still get close frequences around you from 150-520mhz. Best is I hear both sides of phase II TDMA signals loud and clear as I had simulcast issues. Before buying the antenna, some signals clipped and went silent on the P25 800mhz trunked system I monitor. NOW I hear all. Even worked as a mobile antenna on a hard to get local 700mhz trunked system just sitting next to my car door. I can only imagine how great it is on the roof or in an attic. Mine is just pointing out a 2nd story window.  Enjoying my WS1080 a lot now. The "stand" is just 2 blocks of wood and PVC pipe cut in half.  I didn't buy it for the stand but comes in handy at times.  The antenna is GREAT! Thanks!

3 of 5 Very Good Antenna - However..... September 25, 2015
Reviewer: Hal from Seminole, FL United States
This is a very good antenna for scanning 800 MHZ trunking frequencies. P25 works great. I recommend the antenna, however, don't buy the Desktop Stand. It is a piece of junk! and a waste of money. I am however very happy with the antenna. My recommendation is just don't buy the stand, it was wobbly, screwed on loose, and did not stand properly. It's just some PVC pipe with a cut 2X4. It just did not stand properly. Don't go for it.

5 of 5 Best Antenna Ever Owned January 21, 2015
Reviewer: Steve B from Littleton, CO
I love this thing!  It is great at pulling in distant 800MHz sites and also works well at pulling in a 700MHz simulcast cluster on my BCD536HP.  The PVC pipe setup works extremely well (I actually use a C-Clamp to clip it to the corner of a wall in whatever room I'm in.  Highly recommend!
