From my perspective, DMR firmware should just be an added feature, like P2 Phase II, not added price.
Also, there is no documentation and havent figured out how to scan IDs

Worked like they said it would. Just what I needed to hear my local county.

5 of 5 Excellent Product!! February 28, 2017

The BCD996P2 scanner is truly outstanding and by far the most user friendly of the scanners I've owned - and I've owned 98% of the scanners sold by Bearcat, Regency, Realistic/Radio Shack. My only exception is your statement that the DMR upgrade "...must be purchased with the scanner." That is simply not true. I owned my 996P2 several years before the DMR option was made available and I easily loaded it myself, with the aid of my laptop, and it works like a charm. I do HiGHLY recommend obtaining the DMR upgrade. As for the ProVoice, that depends on whether you live within range of a ProVoice system - or frequently travel to a location where there is one you are interested in.

4 of 5 Uniden BCD996P2 DMR review February 10, 2017

First,  it's a great, sensitive radio.  Getting strong signals with outdoor discone.  Large, clear, easy to read display.  Lots of options.  Audio is more than adequate, even w/out ext. spkr.  I like the click-stop vol. and sq. w/numerical readout.

But-- trying to program EDACS next to impossible.  Even using RadioRef., Mark's easy-read site, Uniden .pdf., etc.  Will keep trying.  Maybe it's 'just me.'  (Haven't yet tried conventional or others.) Hence only 4 stars.  Have only listened to search services and those work very well.

Otherwise, very highly recommended.  Hope this is helpful.
