Listen to Your Favorite Radio Broadcasters Call Games in Sync with Your TV!

Now, with the all-new SportSync SR-404 AM/FM Delay Radio, you can turn down the sound on your TV and watch the game while listening to your favorite radio announcers.

Radio play-by-play announcers provide the most descriptive, interesting and fun calls of pro or college sports events. But radio signals almost always run several seconds ahead of TV broadcasts which must pass through cable, satellite or HDTV systems. Before, if you tried to listen on the radio and watch on TV, you heard each play called on the radio well in advance of the same action you saw on TV….it took all the fun out of the game. Now, with the SportSync SR-404, you can delay the radio audio up to 60 seconds to exactly match what you're watching on TV.

How it Works - It's So Easy to Use!

Simply adjust the delay control to listen to the game's radio broadcast synchronized with the action on TV.

The delay control allows you to apply from zero to sixty seconds of delay to any radio broadcast, either AM or FM. It usually just takes one or two game plays to match the radio audio to the TV. Sometimes you can even match the sound of a referee's whistle or the bat hitting the pitched ball, for example. Anyone can use the SportSync, from practically the youngest to the oldest fan. It's simple!

You can use the optional home theater cable to connect the SportSync to the Auxiliary input of your stereo system so you can watch the game on your big-screen TV while listening to the delayed and in-sync radio audio through your home theater speakers (with mono audio).

Why You Need It

Radio Broadcasts Almost Always Run Ahead of TV Broadcasts

Local radio broadcasts of sports events are just about always in "real time." So many people bring radios to sporting events to listen to the radio play-by-play call that the radio stations insure that their signals are going from the microphone to the transmitter and out to your radio at the speed of light - in other words in real time, without any delay.

National radio broadcasts are sometimes delayed slightly because signals are uplinked and downlinked through a satellite to your local radio station before being transmitted to your radio. But in the main, you hear the radio call the moment the action actually occurs.

TV signals require a much greater amount of processing. First, with video, there is much more bandwidth and processing required. Second, signals from the ballpark will generally be fed to the director's truck and up through a satellite and back down to a station or to a cable system "head-end" where the signals are then sent down the cable wires strung across your city. The cable signal then must be decoded by your cable TV box. If you have satellite TV there is another satellite up and downlink involved before the signal reaches you. All this processing, while happening very fast, ultimately takes some number of seconds and thus you end up with a delay. (Further delay may be built in to some TV broadcasts because of the need to insure no inappropriate words are spoken over-the-air or pictures of wardrobe malfunctions are seen.)

In the end the TV signals take longer to reach your TV screen than the broadcast radio signal. That's why you could no longer simply "Turn the sound down on your TV and turn your radio up," like you we were all instructed years ago……until now with the SportSync Radio from Scanner Master!

RADIO RECEPTION

Radio reception can vary location by location. If you are having problems receiving a station try aiming the radio in different directions on the AM band and extending the telescoping antenna for FM band reception. Other things to try:

a. Make sure the switch on the right side is in the down position and set to the internal antenna.
b. Move radio away from a room with florescent lights, computers or other devices that might affect reception.
c. For FM stations try extending and raising the telescoping antenna
d. For AM stations try swiveling the radio as the internal ferrite loop antenna is directional.
e. For shortwave stations try all of the above. The radio is designed primarily for the strongest shortwave stations.

DELAY LENGTHS
If you are unsure whether the delay for the sporting events you are watching is greater than 60 seconds (the difference in time between what you hear on a regular radio and what you are watching on TV) please view a game before ordering Sportsync and time the difference. The delays may vary slightly game to game but if the delay is under 60 seconds then in all likelihood it will remain so.

Note that at times national broadcasts will delay much longer than local broadcasts. So a delay on a local game may be 5 seconds for example and 14 seconds for the national TV broadcast. Satellite TV delays are typically longer than cable or over-the-air TV broadcasts delays.

If the delay is longer than 60 seconds typically for the sport you're interested in, there is unfortunately nothing that SportSync can do to extend the amount of delay that the radio provides. Delays longer than 60 seconds are rare. In very rare cases the radio broadcast will run behind the TV. This is due to excessive time delays built in to the radio broadcast that SportSync has no control over. The best answer in these cases is to delay the TV signal by using a DVR tuner box. By combining a DVR tuner with a Sportsync you can zero in to exactly sync in almost all cases.

DELAYED AUDIO QUALITY
By delaying the audio the radio is converting it from analog to digital, compressing it and storing it in memory in a chip in the radio. When it's played out it has to convert the digital bits back to analog voice and the system trims off the high frequencies in the voice to make this all work and fit in memory. Therefore the delayed audio is slightly muted.

RADIO NOT POWERING UP
Make sure you have new D-cell batteries of the same brand installed in the correct way in the battery holder. Also you may want to try an optional AC adapter.

5 of 5 Great product! September 6, 2019

I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband.  He loves it!  We used it for the first football game of the season and it worked great.  It was so nice to be able to listen to the radio commentary instead of the tv talking heads who talk about everything BUT the game we're watching.  It's wonderful for football, and we anticipate it will be awesome for college basketball!!! Go Cats!

Love the new 60 second delay. Had the 15 second delay and a few times it wasn't enough to sync up to the TV. Highly recommend this item.

5 of 5 Very good little radio! December 6, 2018
Reviewer: Pat Gibney from Mobile, AL United States
Have thought about buying this thing for YEARS, but just got fed up with the network announcers being so bias and you just couldn't turn the sound down and listen to the radio because of the 12/15 second delay. When the radio arrived, looked it over, very attractive and the controls are self explanatory.  First football game arrived, took about 3 minutes to get it set, and AWAY WE GO! Fellow by the name of Eli Gold is the "Voice of the Crimson Tide" and the very first game listening on the radio, watching the tv in sync,  was just absolutely GREAT!  Immediately wished I'd bought it when first discovering.  So if you too, have a favorite local announcer that you think would be more entertaining than the boring tv ones, don't think about buying it, JUST DO IT!
