For those with the Uniden 346, 396, 15 or 996 (first generation "T" and second generation "XT" models), the Uniden Remote Head is a great addition to any in-vehicle custom and professional installation (and some home/office/comm-center installations). The remote head is effectively the front two inches of the base/mobile (15/996) scanners but it can be conveniently mounted in cars and trucks and other locations where space is at a premium. For those with the portable scanners this remote head provides larger controls, keys and a larger display than found on the portables themselves, making for an easier to operate interface in your car or at your home. The remote head has no radio itself internally, it's just the front panel controls (volume/squelch/menu/tuning/keypad, etc.) and display which is connected to your scanner via a 10' thin cable which is included and which can be extended.
