    Product Description

The new Uniden BCD996P2 may look the same as its similarly named predecessor, the 996XT. It offers both APCO 25 Phase I and II digital capability. For those who like GPS scanning, a feature no other manufacturer offers, you can now enable and disable not only Systems but Groups as well depending on your location (the optional GPS antenna that we sell is required). The radio now offers a band-scope feature, a Fire Tone Out search feature to help you determine the tone out frequencies being used, improved Close Call, APCO-25 NAC code decoding, and more. The 996P2 is a big leap forward with APCO 25 Phase I & II digital.

DMR , Provoice & NXDN for your BCD325P2 and BCD996P2 scanner are now available!

Now available for "P2" series scanners is the ability to monitor unencrypted DMR/MotoTRBO and EDACS ProVoice. This option allows monitoring these exciting systems if they are used in your area. ProVoice is used by many public safety systems around the country. DMR/TRBO is used mostly by business users but is also used by many public safety and local government systems.

If your area uses DMR/TRBO or ProVoice then these upgrades will help you increase your monitoring ability.

    5 of 5 Uniden Bearcat BCD996P2 Public Service Scanner January 24, 2023
Reviewer: Bernie from Medford, WI United States
I used a free program for programming the scanner as I didn't want to pay for programming multiple counties. It kept switching to "Close Call" so to speak, and it stopped on the local radio station and saved it even though I had it set to not scan the FM band. There are differences in the digital P25 audio levels, where I needed to adjust the Volume Offset on each frequency where the audio was coming through too loudly and with distortion compared to the other frequencies that I was listening to. I may try using Attenuation on a few frequencies. I manually added some frequencies on my own. I didn't want to keep track of what system the manually-entered frequencies would be stored in, and also didn't want to use the software to see where the frequencies would be stored, so I just stored them into one system with this County for the system name. For the most part I like the BCD996P2 scanner and am getting used to how different it is compared to scanners that I've owned in the past.

The 996p2 works well both base and mobile
800 simulcast is a challenge, but mostly useable
Working with the RH96 out of the box is an issue, but ultiamely solved with extra hardware
Is much better for me than the HP series

    5 of 5 Replacement Scanner July 1, 2017
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Panama City, FL United States
I've been dealing with Scanner Master for over 25 years.  The are price competitive, honest, and have really great customer service.
This scanner replaced my 996XT which was about ten years old and had had a rough life.  It was starting to do stupid things and make strange noises.
I love my new P2.  It does everything I want it to do plus a lot more I'm not smart enough to ask it to do.  My normal operation deals with trunked public safety, ham, marine, aviation, plus that all important weather warning since I live on the Gulf Coast.
The biggest complaint I have is that I wish the speaker was on the top not on the bottom.
I bought the radio preprogrammed and found that two frequencies that I wanted were not included .  A quick email to Greg brought an offer to add the freqs free of charge if i would send the radio back in.  He even paid the return shipping.  Customer service doesn't get any better than that.
Bottom Line:  Great Radio, Great People.
