I bought this to use with my Uniden 72XLT and Uniden 346XT and it is not very loud at all. It is cheep feeling and the clip is terrible. I have been using my speaker mic from my Motorola CP185 Radio by simply plugging a 3.5mm extender into the speaker mic and then into the scanner.

Low Volume On GRE PSR-500

Like most exterenal speakers I tried with the GRE PSR-500. The audio output is always very low. The GRE PSR-500 seems to need a powered external speaker. Oh well it was worth the $15.00 to try it with the GRE PSR-500. I see that Radio Shack now has a powered exterenal speaker. Guess that's the next purchase.
Spectrum Force needs to make a battery powered speaker with this same idea.
I will try this out on a Radio Shack Pro 106 at the store to see how it sounds on that one....

Used on a Radio Shack Pro 96 scanner

I hooked up my speaker to the Radio Shack Pro 96 Scanner and the sound was so much better coming out of the small speaker than the speaker on the scanner. The reviews say that the sound level is limited when adjusted on the speaker itself, but I have found that just by turning the sound up on the scanner itself, makes the sound of the speaker sound louder. I would definitely recommend this item for those who are outside or don't want to constantly be adjusting and readjusting the volume on the scanner.
