The ST3 is designed for the most basic in-home or on-home scanner applications. This antenna covers from 108-1300 MHz so only strong low-band 30-50 MHz signals will be received with this antenna. The antenna is for reception of local signals, not distant stations, which require a larger and more sophisticated antenna. Some customers mount this antenna at their ceiling level, often hung upside-down, to provide a small improvement over the back-of-set telescoping antennas that come packaged with the scanner.
