If you (or the person who is receiving this scanner as a gift) is interested in listening to local aircraft/airport radio traffic, rail, marine, CB and storm spotters and NOAA weather broadcasts with an easy to use scanner, then this basic scanner is a great choice. If you want to listen to police and fire communications as well, and your area uses trunking or digital communications, then this scanner is not for you. If your area uses basic analog FM communications, then this scanner will do the trick.
