I have recently used the new Uniden Home Patrol unit and was considering buying one for my collection. This unit has pretty good ears and is good for people who want an easy to use scanner, plus the touch screen is a nice modern touch for a scanner. Now the Bad - The Scan Cat software has always been buggy and incomplete, and not recommended by this user. The sad fact you have to pay an extra $100-$112 to use features that should be included on a nearly $500 scanner is corporate greed at it's worst. Scanner Master should be ashamed.
The PSR-500/Pro-106 and the Starrsoft Program, Win 500, make the Uniden Home Patrol look pretty cheesy. Scanner Master has gone downhill over the last few years and I have also had to regularly contact the Scanner Master guys to correct their ads, because of faulty info or specs. I have lost all respect for this company and will purchase my scanners elsewhere from now on. I suggest you do the same.

I think the home patrol 1 radio, the scan-lite software and extreme update are way to expensive. I have purchased all the above items, the scan-lite I do not use because it is not that easy to use, it never loads what it should onto the radio, the extreme update does not work. My Radio Shack pro-106 is 3 times the radio of Home Patrol and a lot easier to use, program and operate...
